About the Area
Today, much of the Montana landscape that Lewis & Clark crossed on their legendary journey west remains unchanged.
Combine your business with pleasure by enjoying the beautiful Montana landscapes or take in an unforgettable hunting or fishing experience.
Hunters can choose from a wide range of game birds in Eastern Montana including sharp-tailed grouse, ring-necked pheasants, and wild turkeys. For the big game hunter Eastern Montana provides a healthy population of white-tail and mule deer as well as antelope.
Fishing abounds in Eastern Montana in Fort Peck Lake and the Missouri River. Some of the species that can be found are: Salmon, Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Paddlefish, Pallid Sturgeon, and Walleye.
Eastern Montana also offers exciting cultural events, including Native American Pow Wows every weekend from late June through Labor Day. A Pow Wow is a celebration of native culture and traditions through dancing, food, crafts, and fellowship with one another. All members of the public are welcome to participate or spectate in the events.
The local Pow Wow is called Poplar Indian Days, which is held during Labor Day weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
